Izumo Shrine

Izumo Shrine is a Shinto shrine located at Shimane prefecture in Chugoku district. The shrine is dedicated to Okuninushi no Mikoto ( the god of land, wealth, medicine and encouragement of new industry ). It was listed in the Register of Deities of the Engishiki (the laws of the 10th-century Japan) , and was occupying the highest rank among the shrines of a province.This shrine is famous for the main hall designated as a national treasure.

Amaterasu

Amaterasu (天照), Amaterasu-Omikami (天照大神/天照大御神/天照皇大神) or Ohirume-no-muchi-no-kami (大日孁貴神) is a part of the Japanese myth cycle and also a major deity of the Shinto religion. She is seen as the goddess of the sun, but also of the universe. The name Amaterasu derived from Amateru means "shining in heaven". The meaning of her whole name, Amaterasu-?mikami, is "the great august kami (god) who shines in the heaven".
